Problem Statement

The design laboratory for media informatics was redesigned and has received new different possibilities for use. To use these possibilities, it is necessary to guarantee access to the laboratory while the university is opened, without violating or disregarding the safety conditions of the facility. For this reason, there will be created a possibility to use this laboratory without the presence of the professor, an employee or student assistant with locking permissions.

Idea and Concept

The present work deals with the design and development of an app, that can handle dynamically a locking authorization to the user who is instructed manually into the safety conditions. The authorization comes by a transponder, that can be borrowed with the Android or iOS app, if it is not already borrowed. Furthermore, the user can reserve seats for individual or group work to predefined times.

Implementation

In order to be able to create the app, various data had to be collected, which resulted from a competitive analysis and a target group survey. The users were also interested in some other functions that were implemented too. The app was developed as a hybrid app with the Ionic Framework. The main function is working with the BLE certificate and a local server.
